Participating in the Dialogue on the Future of Tourism in Chiriquí

Puerto Barú in David participated in the first provincial tourism forum, titled “Chiriquí: A Driver of Development, Culture, and Opportunities for All.” The event was organized by the University of Work and the Third Age (UTTE) of the University of Panama, Chiriquí campus.

Representing the project, Regional Communications Coordinator Astrid M. Carreño shared Puerto Barú’s vision and its potential to drive port, tourism, and economic development in Chiriquí. She highlighted the opportunities this could create for local communities and businesses.

“Puerto Barú is a project designed to create opportunities in Chiriquí and for its people. Dialogue spaces like this allow us to work together, as institutions, communities, and the private sector, to build a shared vision for the province we want,” said Carreño.

The event brought together stakeholders from different sectors to exchange ideas about the province’s natural and cultural attractions and explore how collaboration can drive local development. It also promoted an inclusive and sustainable approach to tourism that values Chiriquí’s heritage and contributes to the well-being of its residents.

Puerto Barú in David reaffirmed its commitment to continuing to participate in initiatives that strengthen cooperation, cultural promotion, and the development of Chiriquí.
