Puerto Bar\u00fa in David respectfully welcomes the decision of the Third Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice, which declared Resolution DEIA-IA-0003-2024, dated January 16, 2024, NOT ILLEGAL, through which the Ministry of Environment approved the project\u2019s Category III Environmental Impact Assessment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In its ruling, the Court concluded that the plaintiffs had failed to substantiate the alleged legal violations and acknowledged, based on the evidence examined during the proceedings, that there is no overlap between the project and the mangrove area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cChiriqu\u00ed will have its port,\u201d said Ismael Gonz\u00e1lez, General Director of Puerto Bar\u00fa in David. Gonz\u00e1lez added: \u201cWe receive this decision with respect and responsibility. We have always trusted Panama\u2019s institutions. Puerto Bar\u00fa in David represents an estimated private investment of approximately US$250 million and aims to strengthen the logistics infrastructure of the Western Region, expand its connectivity with international markets, and create new opportunities for producers, businesses, and communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
