Puerto Bar\u00fa participated this Thursday in the III National Congress on Public and Private Contracting (CONCOP 2026),<\/strong> where its General Director, Ismael Gonz\u00e1lez, shared his perspective on the role of infrastructure in the development of western Panama and the opportunity for the country to strengthen its logistics capacity in this region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Gonz\u00e1lez participated in the panel \u201cPrivate Contracting and Megaprojects,\u201d<\/strong> alongside representatives from the Railway Secretariat, Minera Panam\u00e1, and the National Council of Private Enterprise (CONEP), moderated by Guido Rodr\u00edguez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n During his remarks, he highlighted that Chiriqu\u00ed is one of the country\u2019s leading productive regions,<\/strong> yet a significant share of its production has historically been far from efficient access to an international port on Panama\u2019s western Pacific coast. Puerto Bar\u00fa in David seeks to change this reality through an estimated US$250 million private investment<\/strong>, envisioned as a multipurpose port complex and logistics platform for western Panama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Beyond the jobs it will directly generate, Gonz\u00e1lez explained that the greatest impact of infrastructure of this nature will be seen in what develops around it: greater competitiveness, access to new markets, and increased investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIts most important impact will be what happens beyond the port,\u201d Gonz\u00e1lez said.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n
