Ngäbe-Buglé Comarca Strengthens Its Production and Traditions at the Mónico Cruz Agrotourism Fair

Producers, entrepreneurs, and artisans from the Ngäbe-Buglé Comarca gathered at the First Mónico Cruz Agrotourism Fair, an event aimed at strengthening unity, production, and the development of their communities.

During the event, the support provided by Puerto Barú and the Ñö Kribo, Nedrini, and Kodriri regions was recognized. Their support through training has been key to advancing this initiative.

The community of San Félix, in Eastern Chiriquí, hosted the First Mónico Cruz Agrotourism Fair, an event that brought together producers, entrepreneurs, and artisans from the Ngäbe-Buglé Comarca with the goal of strengthening unity, production, and the development of their communities.

The event highlighted the work of local producers and entrepreneurs, particularly the women who keep ancestral traditions alive through the creation of chácaras, naguas, and other handicrafts representative of Ngäbe-Buglé culture.

For us, this support represents an opportunity for the Mónico Cruz Organization to gain visibility, reach new markets, and strengthen the capabilities of our people. We hope this partnership will allow us to continue growing and that, in the future, we will be able to develop our own businesses and create greater opportunities within the Comarca,” said Óscar Inocencio Ellington, President of the Mónico Cruz Organization.

The goal of this initiative is to continue strengthening the productive capacities of the Comarca so that its agricultural and artisanal products can first reach the domestic market and, subsequently, international markets, thereby creating new economic opportunities for families and workers in the region.

The First Mónico Cruz Agrotourism Fair is emerging as a meeting place that seeks to establish itself as a reference for community-based tourism and artisanal production in Eastern Chiriquí.
