We signed a partnership agreement with Teletón 20-30 Chiriquí.

Puerto Barú in David, through its social arm, the Nuevas Rutas Foundation, signed a sponsorship agreement this Tuesday with the Activo 20-30 Club of Panama, formalizing its support for Teletón 20-30 Chiriquí 2026.

This important partnership will contribute directly to this year’s target project, focused on equipping and renovating the Burn Unit at the José Domingo de Obaldía Maternal and Children’s Hospital. The initiative responds to a critical need identified during technical visits. Thirty percent of all burn cases involving children under 14 in the country are treated at this hospital, which presents concerning figures: 348 patients in 2019, 1,231 in 2020, 871 in 2021, and 1,010 in 2022 in the provinces of Chiriquí and Bocas del Toro alone, far exceeding national averages.

This project reflects the shared conviction that true development is built by caring for people—especially our children.

“We firmly believe in the potential of Chiriquí and are committed to the sustainable growth of the region. Chiriquí is an essential part of who we are and what we aim to build. That is why we are clear that progress must go hand in hand with actions that generate a real impact on people’s lives. Supporting Teletón 20-30 Chiriquí 2026 is a concrete way for us to contribute, from our role, to ensuring that more children and families have access to better care and greater opportunities,” said Ismael González, General Director of Puerto Barú.

From the organization’s social perspective, Mónica Suero, President of the Nuevas Rutas Foundation, highlighted the direct connection between this initiative and the values that guide the foundation’s work.

“Children and the well-being of communities are at the heart of our mission. When we decided to support this project, we did so thinking about the families going through difficult times and the children who need dignified and specialized care. For us, this is not just institutional support—it is a human commitment,” Suero stated.

“The target project for Chiriquí will contribute directly and effectively to the well-being of children by providing medical treatments, specialized therapies, and educational programs tailored to local needs,” stated Giacomo Tamburrelli, President of the Teletón 20-30 2026 edition.

“Supporting initiatives like this is a moral duty, as they help reduce burn injuries in children. Through this project, we will modernize equipment, optimize facilities, and raise the standard of pediatric care, benefiting not only patients in Chiriquí but also those in neighboring provinces in western Panama,” Tamburrelli emphasized.

Teletón 20-30 Chiriquí 2026 will take place on March 13 and 14 at the David International Fair, bringing together companies, volunteers, and citizens in a solidarity-driven event aimed at generating real change in the lives of Panamanian children.
